Let us laugh and celebrate
Laughters

What are laughters for?
How do laughters break the barriers of cold ice
between persons who are strangers to each other?

Are laughters language of joy?
Are laughters the common language of all peoples of all races and cultures?

When do we cease laughing?
What happens when we stop laughing?
What happens to the heart when laughters
are denied and shut out?

Laughter as medicine

How do laughters become medicine?
How do laughters heal the aching heart?
How do laughters soothe the feelings
which are torn by anger and hate?
How do laughters transform us as
positive people who  can look
at the future with courage and hope?
How do laughters change our image
of the future to brighter colours
and not gray, dark and dim?

How much does it take to laugh
and to  make others laugh?
How can we measure the notes
of joy? Are laughters the notes
of a loving heart?

Joy over the celebration
of a common knowledge in history

I have been to a party today in Brødre Menighedens Hotel. It started very slowly and very silently. The food was served on our plates. It seemed everything was very formal. And people talked in low tones and seeming whispers. Then the celebrant said a word. He asked us to sing. We sang a Danish song. Not many knew the melody of that old song. But our voices were heard. We tried our best. When the tone seemed not able to hit the real tune, we smiled and laughed. Our íncompetence to sing the song correctly made us laugh at our limitation. Then there were more songs that were asked to be sung from the given Danish song book. There was a song that marked a historical significance when Denmark was under the German control. And the old ladies at the singing of the last verse, stood and sang with all their feelings and sincerity. The song became a rallying point of recalling history, the melody became very familiar and the text became  a part of their own story. There I saw smiles on the faces of these guests. Joy comes from the knowledge of one`s own history. Joy is felt in the common celebration of a common story.

Sources of Joy
What Are our Sources of Joy?

Can we derive joy from being  affirmed  by others that we are okey and great? Ís there  joy in believing that others think positive of us?

Can we derive joy when we know that those whom we love have managed to run their own lives and they follow the path we think is right?

Can we derive joy when we can work freely and creatively in the tasks  we are employed for?

Can we derive joy from the nature whose face  shows the beauty in the variation of forms, seasons and colours?

Can we derive joy in the thought that there are good friends who back us  up in good and bad times in our life?

Can we derive joy in the thought that the Higher Being we call God  holds us in the palms of his strong and secure hands?

I think I should also spend time writing poems in Danish. For quite a period of time, I have only concentrated on writing poems in English.

Kære Elizabeth - du rørte mig med din tekst om at overleve gennem kunsten. Jeg kender det selv som en delvis fremmed med udenlandsk opvækst. Vi ses i Simonpete
