Christmas Greetings 2008

Dear friends,
You are special. You are well remembered as one of those who should receive this letter for updates and best wishes during this busy month of December.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! This is our special wish for you and for all your loved ones. Christmas is a special season to bind us together in love and hope, in recollection and introspection, a season for common celebration in the birth of the Saviour Lord Jesus. May this Christmastide bring us all more joy, love, hope and faith even in the midst of darkness engulfing countries and nations as individuals and communities. May the message of love and peace of Christ Jesus ring to all places in spite of the horror and pain brought about by natural calamities, human cruelty and violence and the global economic crises.
Let this season be time for regaining strength, renewing faith, and revitalizing visions.
Let me update you with the family situation. Jenny, the second girl in the family left for Australia last Thursday. She is travelling with two good friends. They are visiting an Australian friend, who was once an exchange student in their school in Denmark. This is the first time that one in the family is out during this special season. We miss Jenny very much. She will come home in the middle of January and will prepare her next trip to Honduras where she will work as volunteer for the street children for half a year. Jenny has prepared herself for this trip as she took Spanish as a subject in school and she got 12 grade as the highest mark one can get. I am also amazed how in a short period she is able to speak and write in Spanish. I think it’s because she is very much motivated to make this journey and volunteer work in Honduras (Latin America). She has worked hard to secure tickets for these trips.
Anna has now moved from Kolding to Haderslev. She is busy with three small jobs while waiting for the opening of the next school year for further studies. She comes to visit us once in a while and it is good to have her visits.
Maya who is now 17 years old is on her second year in the gymnasium. She is very busy with her studies. She has got many friends that most of her week-ends are filled with busy activities. Philip, the youngest in the family, is out of town, as he is in a boarding school in Odder. He comes home once or twice in a month and otherwise, he is happy about her life in the Boarding School. Our little boy, Bastian, who is the nephew of Jens is now 8 years old. He continues to grow as a happy child and an intelligent one. He brings joy in the house, an additional duty, but he has become very much a part of the family.
Jens and I are in our the same world of busy life, a life simply altered by some invitations to parties and some visits. I continue my job as a teacher in a Public School, teaching five subjects like English, music, religion, history and art. Jens continues to head the accounting office of the mission organizations in town. We join in three church fellowships in Kolding and Christiansfeld. And now and then I go out to exhibit my paintings with themes on Christian faith in churches and other public places. Our family and I will be joining the International Worship for the Christmas Eve where I will be singing. The decorating in the house is not yet finished.
Our holiday begins on the 23rd of December until the 4th of January. It is good time to visit and invite friends and time to be with the family.
May this Christmas holiday be a relaxing and joyful time for all of us. And may Christ, the Lord, be praised in our midst.
